Update: Not sure why half of this posted is highlighted. Sorry about that.
My foray back into Warhammer has been focused on building an Empire army using mostly figs from 4th and 5th edition Citadel (and other manufacturers that make similar alternate figs).
Wargames Foundry solves most of this problem. They have a number of old moulds from this era of Citadel figs, and also sell a number of figs that fit in perfectly.
However, a few figs that I recently purchased just don't really fit in terms of scale. I'm not talking about current GW enormous Heroic Scale figs. I'm talking about scale from the late 80s and early 90s, closer to true 28mm. Even the 6th ed plastic spearmen and handgunners that I'm using look huge in comparison.
I think the Swiss Halberdiers here are just too small. It's a shame because they're great sculpts.
Here a few pics with some of the old-school citadel halberds that I have, and the Foundry Swiss Halberds for comparison.
On the left are the citadel figs from largest to smallest. The three figs on the far right are Foundry.
You can see how this isn't just an issue mixed size where one could argue that not all "people" are the same height and build.
The next pic is mixed together to show what it would look like if I tried to hide a few guys in a unit.

This one shows that even next to the two smallest Citadel figs, the scale is just too far off (in my opinion).
The good news is that there are 3 figs per blister that are close enough that I should be able to mix them into a unit, and all of the Foundry landsknecht figs I bought are perfect; I'm going to use about 28 of them as the special Altdorf halrberdiers "Company of Honor" aka "Sons of the Reik" unit that's referenced in the "Uniforms and Heraldry of The Empire" book.
So I have 2 blisters of Swiss Halberds and 1 blister of War of the Roses billmen, a total of 24 figs, with about 15 that are too small and 9 that I think I can salvage and sprinkle into the unit.
What to do with the 15 little guys? I could probably manage to make them into "free company" irregular guys (smaller townsfolk, slight of build farmers that aren't big enough for regular fighting), but they'd fit better as Bretonnians peasants. I might just rank them up, paint them and keep them as a backup unit to fill out points when necessary, but they will probably look weird on the tabletop surrounded by enormous current scale GW figs.

I'll post pics of the end result when I'm done.
